Zhang Xiaojian, professor and doctoral supervisor of Department of environmental science and engineering, Tsinghua University, and director of Institute of water quality science and engineering, Department of environment, Tsinghua University.

Zhang Xiaojian graduated from water supply and drainage engineering of Tsinghua University in 1978, obtained a doctor's degree in environmental engineering of Tsinghua University in 1986, and was the first doctor of environmental engineering trained by himself in China. In 2007, he was selected as "person of the year of Green China". On August 7, 2018, he was appointed as "nuclear power science popularization ambassador" by CGN.

Zhang Xiaojian has successfully carried out the emergency water supply work in many water source sudden pollution accidents, including the nitrobenzene water pollution incident in Songhua River, cadmium pollution incident in Beijiang River in Guangdong Province, Wuxi drinking water incident, Qinhuangdao drinking water incident, etc., which is known as the "water control master made by Tsinghua University".

▶ Major academic achievements

(1)Organized a number of units nationwide to carry out systematic research, and formed a technical system for emergency treatment of urban water supply to deal with water source pollution accidents. In recent water source emergency pollution accidents in China, as the technical director of the expert group of the Ministry of construction, the emergency water supply work in the event of water pollution such as Songhua River nitrobenzene water pollution in November 2005, cadmium pollution in Beijiang River in Guangdong in December 2005, Wuxi drinking water event in May 2007 and drinking water incident in Qinhuangdao in June 2007 were successfully carried out.

(2)In terms of theory and technology of drinking water treatment, we organized a number of domestic scientific research institutions to carry out research on drinking water safety assurance technology and process system in northern China, and carried out a number of research on drinking water treatment technology, which improved the removal effect of pollutants such as organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, odor substances, disinfection by-products and their precursors.

(3)In the aspect of drinking water disinfection technology, a new sequential chlorination disinfection technology was proposed for the first time at home and abroad, which realized the dual control of microorganisms and disinfection by-products economically and effectively.

(4)In China, the author first put forward the problem of water quality stability control in drinking water transportation and distribution, and put forward the discrimination basis, influencing factors and control measures of biological and chemical stability of water quality of the pipeline network.

(5)It is the first time to find out the existence of mercaptan and thioether odorants in heavily polluted source water. Systematic research on the removal characteristics of various odorants has been carried out, which provides technical support for dealing with the odor problem of tap water caused by water pollution and providing high-quality drinking water under general water source conditions.

In terms of scientific research, Zhang Xiaojian has successively undertaken the national Sixth Five-Year scientific and technological research project "urban sewage treatment and reuse", the national seventh five-year scientific and technological research project "urban sewage reuse technology", the national eighth five-year scientific and technological research project "industrial wastewater treatment technology and technology containing refractory organic compounds", the National Ninth Five-Year scientific and technological research project "integrated technology and equipment for purification of polluted source water", and the National Natural Science and Technology Research Institute Among them, "Research on municipal wastewater reuse technology" won the second prize of national science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of National Education Commission for science and technology progress, "Research on the relationship between disinfection, disinfection by-products and biological stability of drinking water in Beijing" won the third prize of Beijing Science and technology Progress Award, and "special government allowance" and other provincial and ministerial awards A total of 66 scientific research works have been published. Comrade Zhang Xiaojian has a keen academic thought in scientific research. He has made outstanding research achievements in theory and technology of drinking water micro pollution treatment, water quality science and technology, and treatment mechanism and technology of industrial wastewater containing refractory organics. His scientific research achievements have reached the international advanced level. He has a comprehensive and profound understanding of sustainable development, water environment protection, water industry and other strategic issues
