Shi Hanchang, male, February 1950, doctor of engineering, major in environmental engineering, Professor of Department of environmental science and engineering, Tsinghua University, is now the director of State Key Joint Laboratory of environmental simulation and pollution control. He graduated from the Department of civil and environmental engineering of Tsinghua University in 1982, visiting scholar of water research center in 1989-1990, senior visiting scholar of University of Michigan in 1994, visiting professor of Alberta University in 2002 and visiting professor of Stanford University in 2003. He has been engaged in the theory and technology research of water treatment for a long time, and has accumulated a lot of research achievements and experience in reactor, reaction kinetics and biosensor of wastewater biological treatment. He is the director of the National 863 project "Research on high efficiency aerobic bioreactor", "research and development of high efficiency biological fluidized composite reactor for small town wastewater treatment" in the 10th five year plan, and the National Natural Science Foundation Project "test of internal characteristics of biological carrier and Research on denitrification model". He has carried out a number of international cooperative researches with Stanford University in the United States, Alberta University in Canada and Ghent University in Belgium. During the Ninth Five Year Plan period, we carried out the research on the in-situ detection method of BOD in water by yeast and the in-situ detection method of benzene in water by Escherichia coli, and also carried out the research on the biosensor and automatic detection and data acquisition system for the determination of microbial activity in wastewater biological treatment system. In 1995, the first Chinese simulation software of wastewater biological treatment process based on IAWQ model was developed. He has been in charge of the ninth five year plan science and technology project (96-909-05) and NSFC key project (29637010) project 3. His research achievements have applied for and been authorized more than 30 national invention patents, published more than 200 papers at home and abroad, won the first and second prizes of science and technology progress award of the Ministry of education, one second prize of science and Technology Invention Award of the Ministry of education and one third prize of Beijing science and technology progress award, and won the title of excellent scientific and technological worker of environmental science of Chinese society of Environmental Sciences. Professor Shi Hanchang has been engaged in teaching for a long time and has rich teaching experience. His courses include: mathematical model and new technology of wastewater biological treatment (postgraduate), process control and automatic monitoring of wastewater biological treatment (postgraduate), environment and development. Over the years, he has guided 12 doctoral students and 26 master students, and won the mentor award of Tsinghua University.
