Ren Hongqiang, born in May 1964 in Baoding, Hebei Province, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering. He has been a professor of Nanjing University since 2003. Now he is the dean of School of environment of Nanjing University and the dean of Yixing Environmental Protection Research Institute of Nanjing University. Since 1985, he has been mainly engaged in the research and teaching of anaerobic biological treatment technology for wastewater. He has participated in the national Seventh Five Year scientific and technological research projects of "anaerobic pond research in North China" and "anaerobic biological treatment technology research for high concentration organic wastewater". He has successively participated in or completed 12 scientific research projects above provincial level, 1 National Natural Science Foundation and 1 young teachers' fund of the Ministry of education, and won the scientific and technological award above provincial and ministerial level Eight progress awards, three patents, more than 30 practical wastewater treatment projects, and more than 100 large anaerobic biological treatment reactors (AF, UASB, EGSB) have been designed.

•From 1985 to 2001, he was teaching assistant, lecturer, associate professor and professor in school of environmental science and engineering, Hebei University of science and technology

•In 1997, he obtained a master's degree in environmental engineering from North China Electric Power University

•In 2000, he got his Ph.D. in fermentation engineering from Wuxi University of light industry

•From 2001 to 2002, he worked in the post doctoral mobile station of environmental science and engineering of Nanjing University

•He has been a professor and doctoral supervisor of Nanjing University since January 2003
