The 15th Conference of the parties to the United Nations Convention on biological diversity

    The person in charge of the Preparatory Committee for the 15th Conference of the parties to the United Nations Convention on biological diversity (COP15) said that after consultation between the Chinese government and the Secretariat of the Convention on biological diversity and deliberation by the presidium of the Convention, the date of COP15 was updated from May 2021 to October 11-24 2021, and the venue of the meeting was Kunming, China.

    COP15 is an important conference. The conference will formulate the global biodiversity framework after 2020, which is a new 10-year biodiversity conservation action plan after Aichi goal.

    COP15 is the first global conference on ecological civilization held by the United Nations. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the preparatory work for COP15. General secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the UN biodiversity summit, sharing China's experience in biodiversity management and ecological civilization construction, and sending sincere invitations to the world. Leaders of various countries and leaders of international organizations are welcome to gather in the beautiful spring city of Kunming to jointly plan for biodiversity conservation. As the host country of COP15, China will earnestly fulfill its obligations, work hand in hand with the international community, strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and strive to make COP15 a successful and landmark conference.
