Liu Zhiren, male, Han nationality, was born in July 1945 in Dalian, Liaoning Province. Member of 93 society.

•Current counsellor of the State Council (appointed by Premier Wen Jiabao in August 2003)

•He is a research fellow of the rural economic research center of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas of the people's Republic of China. He is also a consultant of the Central Committee of agriculture and forestry of Jiusan Society and vice president of the national organic agriculture industry alliance

•He once served as member of the 11th Central Committee and director of the Central Committee of agriculture and forestry of Jiusan Society, member of the 10th Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, the third and fourth specially invited inspectors of the Ministry of supervision of the people's Republic of China, the special land inspector of the people's Republic of China, vice president of China Association for promoting village development and vice president of China Association for promoting international cooperation in agriculture

▶ work experience

After graduating from Dalian University of Foreign Studies in July 1968, it was assigned to the farm of the liberation army of Sujiatun, Shenyang, Liaoning Province, for labor training, and was uniformly assigned to the Ministry of agriculture and forestry in September 1970.

He has been engaged in agricultural and rural economic policies and comparative studies on agriculture between China and foreign countries for a long time. From the early 1980s to the early 1990s, he was a researcher at the former research center for rural development under the State Council (jointly with the office of the Rural Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee). He has worked in Japan three times as a senior visiting scholar and is a famous expert on agriculture, agriculture and agriculture sent by returnees who returned from Japan. The main research fields are international agricultural economy, East Asia agriculture, international trade of agricultural products, farmers and rural organizations, circulation of agricultural products, modern agriculture and new rural construction, etc. In recent two years, the main research is on Rural Revitalization, targeted poverty alleviation and food safety and other related policies.

•Since the end of 1970s, he participated in the whole process of China's rural reform and carried out decision-making consultation. In October 1992, he was awarded the special contribution expert of the State Council and the special allowance of the government

•He has always adhered to and practiced the principle of fine research in agricultural and rural areas, and has been a visiting professor in many universities and research institutions

•Since 17 years as counsellor of the State Council, he has put forward many valuable policy advice and suggestions for China's economic and social development, especially for changing the current situation of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers"
